Gobblefest 2013

by Office of Marketing | December 05, 2013
On November 22 and 23, teenagers from all over the country convened at Valley Forge Christian College (VFCC) to participate in Gobblefest – the largest  Bible Quiz (BQ) tournament in the northeast. This event was especially exciting for participants and officials alike, as it marked the 20th anniversary of this competition.

BQ is a discipleship ministry of the Assemblies of God (AG), geared for teens that are in sixth to twelfth grade. Participating students memorize a different portion of the New Testament each year, then they test their ability to memorize and understand God's Word by competing within their district. District and regional meets take place in the spring, with the top teams advancing to Nationals. At the conclusion, thousands of scholarship dollars are awarded for attendance to AG colleges and universities, including VFCC.

Gobblefest 2013 welcomed contestants and officials representing 12 states – including teams from North Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, Alabama and Maine. Upon arrival, teams were separated into four divisions, two for high school (Gold and Blue) and two for middle school (Red and Purple).

The following students scored the highest individual scores in their respective divisions: Aaron Scarinzi (Blue), Caleb Hoffmann (Gold), Joshua Schellinger (Red) and Divya Matthews (Purple). Congratulations to the following teams that took first place in their divisions: Bethlehem Church from Richmond Hill, N.Y. (Blue), Maple Lane Assembly of God from Deposit, N.Y. (Gold), Central Assembly of God of Maine (Red) and Redeemer Church from Utica, N.Y. (Purple).
